Hyderabad: On account of International Women’s day celebrated world-wide on March 8, Telangana municipal administration and urban development minister, KT Rama Rao announced three-day festivities from March 6 to 8.
In a teleconference with MLAs on Thursday, KTR discussed the arrangements on Mahila Bandhu, K Chandrasekhar Rao’s women oriented welfare and protection programmes.
According to a Telangana Today report, the ceremonies would begin on March 6 with various groups of women tying rakhis to the state chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The students, physicians, sanitation workers, and leaders of SHGs organisations would also be honoured. This would be followed by human chains which spell out the phrase “Thank You KCR.”
On the last day, special sessions with women at the constituency level will be held to discuss various topics and include them in various programmes.
KT Rama Rao said, “Telangana was the only State where 10 lakh marriages were performed under the Kalyana Lakshmi programme. Similarly, 11 lakh have benefited through the KCR kits distribution programme.”
Due to the effective implementation of KCR kits distribution programme, there was a drastic decline in mother and child mortality rates in the state. “On the other hand, deliveries had increased substantially in government hospitals,” he added.
