Pakistan media has been targeting former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan ever since Afghanistan’s victory over the Babar-led team in the ICC World Cup match.

In one news clip shared on social media, a Pakistani media anchor can be seen criticising the Indian cricketer for dancing with bowler Rashid Khan after Afghanistan’s victory against Pakistan.

The news anchor suggested that Irfan Pathan should consider participating in a reality show instead of dancing on the cricket field. He was also seen asking, “Is Irfan Pathan aiming to become an Afghan national?”

Recently, after the Afghanistan cricket team defeated Pakistan for the first time in an ODI on Monday, Irfan Pathan and Rashid Khan were seen dancing on the ground.

Later, the video of their dance went viral on social media, triggering reactions from netizens. While most netizens praised them, some criticised the former Indian cricketer.

One netizen wrote, “An Indian Muslim supporting an Afghan Muslim and whole of Hindu majoritarian Bharat cheering for them! Hindus don’t hate Muslims. Understand the difference.”

Another wrote, “Irfan Pathan dancing with the Afghan cricket team is hurting the Pakistanis a hundred times more than the 1971 surrender of 97,000 Pakistan Army soldiers.”

On Monday, the Afghanistan cricket team defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the ICC World Cup match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
