Hyderabad: In what many on social media described as an extreme example of work culture, a man was spotted using a laptop while riding a motorcycle in Hyderabad’s Hitec City on Friday, June 12.
A video circulating on social media shows the rider operating a laptop that had been placed on the motorcycle’s fuel tank while travelling on a busy road.
The video quickly drew attention online, with several users expressing concern over the dangerous act and the risks it posed to both the rider and other road users.
Reacting to the clip, one social media user commented, “Best Employee of the Year,” while another remarked, “Worst Rider of the Year.”
Hyderabad Commissioner calls for safety
Reacting to the viral video, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar called for road safety.
“Every task has its own method. But, seeing people risking their lives to work from a bike like this… the saying that “when greed gets too much, it turns against your own life” feels literally true,” he said in a post on X.
Sajjanar said that if people don’t concentrate on roads, it’s not just dangerous for them, but also for the others travelling beside them.
“Remember… the work you do to fill your stomach shouldn’t end up starving you,” he reminded the public. Sajjanar also appealed to people to stop such irresponsible actions on the road. Urging them to travel safely and reach their destinations peacefully.
People criticise Sajjanar for ‘distasteful’ comment
Reacting to Sajjanar’s comment on the rider, most social media users criticised the commissioner and asked if he would provide a job if the person loses it.
One user pointed out that Sajjanar was harsh in saying that “when greed gets too much, it turns against your own life” he asked the commissioner to be careful and added , “The Telangana government and the Police Department conduct road safety initiatives like ‘Arrive Alive’ every day. Yet, many people continue to act negligently. It is truly shameful,”
Another persons said, “Instead of criticising the individual, you should find out which company gives such work and punish them”
