Hyderabad: Four students were injured at a pre-release event of movie star Yash’s movie Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups at Mallareddy University in Hyderabad on Saturday, August 22.
The event turned chaotic after enthusiastic students climbed onto a sound box to get a glimpse of their favourite actors, including Kiara Advani and Rukmini Vasanth.
A video shared on social media shows four people atop the steel structure, and falling down. Speaking to Siasat.com, PetBasheerabad Police said, “The incident occurred at 9:30 pm, and Bhanu Prakash, a student, suffered a fractured leg while four others sustained minor injuries.”
Several reports also suggested that a female student lost consciousness. “This is false. Nothing like that happened,” the police said, adding a case is yet to be registered.
Yash was on stage at the time of the mishap. The actor paused his speech to check on the students and asked the organisers about their condition. “Is it okay there? Please check…be careful. Are you safe?” he asked.
He urged students to get down and continued his speech informed that there was no major issue.
The movie, written and directed by Geetu Mohandas, is an action-thriller saga set in Goa between the early 1940s and the 1970s. Yash plays Raya, a gangster, in the film. It also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. It is set to hit theatres on August 26.
