Hyderabad police hosts ‘Run for Action’ on International Women’s Day

Wishing everyone a happy Women's Day, Seethakka asked participating women to be mentally and physically strong.

Hyderabad: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Hyderabad city police organised ‘Run for Action-2025’ on Saturday, March 8, a 5K and 2K run with around 5,000 participants near the People’s Plaza on Necklace Road.

Women and child welfare minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) and Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand flagged off the program.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Seethakka congratulated police commissioner CV Anand for organising the run to boost self-confidence in women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Wishing everyone a happy International Women’s Day, Seethakka asked participating women to be mentally and physically strong.

“Women were once looked down upon in society, and after the United Nations declared equal pay for equal work, International Women’s Day is being celebrated globally. The main purpose of Women’s Day is there should be no difference between a man and woman as everyone is equal,” she said.

Terming Hyderabad as one of the safest cities in India and crediting the city police’s efforts in maintaining law and order, she said many prefer the City of Pearls for employment and business.

“Out of 20 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) in the Hyderabad police commissionerate, eight are women and 30 percent of the 18,000 police personnel in the commissionerate are women,” he said. He said that recently, four women inspectors were appointed as station house officers in the department of law and order and traffic police stations.

“Women are contributing significantly in all prominent sectors of the country while taking care of family responsibilities, so there is a need to recognize their importance today,” he said.
