Hyderabad: A house-warming ceremony in Hyderabad’s Cbhintal area turned sour after a family alleged that a group of trans people forced their way into their new home and demanded Rs 50,000 if they wanted the celebration to continue.
In the video, a woman said they followed her family to the new home, got there first and demanded money as a condition to be allowed in. They allegedly abused her family, chided her for recording the exchange, and even exposed themselves when she continued to record them.
Sharing the video of the incident, an X user on Friday, September 4, raised the issue of similar incidents allegedly being reported from multiple Hyderabad homes where members of the trans community have gatecrashed celebrations and demanded anything between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh.
While Siasat.com hasn’t been able to independently verify the authenticity of the video, the X user said this was not the first such complaint. “Since 2021, there have been repeated allegations of people arriving at weddings, housewarmings, shop openings, restaurants, traffic junctions and trains and demanding money. The cases involve people identified as transgender as well as people whom police alleged were impersonating transgender persons,” he wrote.
