A large gathering of men, women and children from different parts of the Valley thronged the ground to witness the fireworks and the ritual of burning of effigies on Tuesday evening

Srinagar: Hundreds of Kashmiri pandits and Hindus celebrated Dussehra with religious fervour in Kashmir on Tuesday. On this occasion, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnath were erected in Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar.
A large gathering of men, women and children from different parts of the Valley thronged the ground to witness the fireworks and the ritual of burning of effigies on Tuesday evening.
The event was organised by Kadal Foundation and Kashmiri Pandits Sangarsh Samiti. “Despite having different faith, I believe the are all one family and should celebrate festivals of all faiths together,” said Sanjay Saraf, who leads the Kadal Foundation.
Dussehra or Vijayadashami is an important Hindu festival which signifies the victory of good over evil. This annual festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour by Hindus across the world on the tenth day of the Navratras.
