There are several eateries that serve authentic and traditional Biryani and the city has always managed to remain the favourite place of biryani for gourmets. Some Hyderabadis have written poems while others have opened restaurants to express their love for this popular dish and keep its importance alive among the residents. But, in the latest development, South India’s another city Chennai has done something that Hyderabadis could not do for the sake of biryani.

Yes, Chennai-based start-up Bai Veetu Kalyanam or BVK Biryani has launched India’s first-ever Biryani vending machine in the Kolathur area of Chennai. The BVK is even planning to open 12 more unmanned Biryani takeaways throughout Chennai. Isn’t this company way ahead of Hyderabadis in promoting Biryani in a unique way?

Yes, you can experience a fast and amazing ordering feel in the store in Kolathur that is equipped with 32-inch touchscreens. Customers can browse the menu and order from it. They can either use a card or scan QR code to make payments and minutes after making a payment, the biryani package slides into the lower shelf of the automated machine. The customers need to tap the ‘open door’ option to pick up their order and enjoy it.

Customers can only use cards or have to make payments via the UPI app, as the machine does not accept cash. It is also mandatory to type your name and phone number before placing the order too.

Faheem S, co-founder and CEO of BVK said that BVK Biryani has begun its operations in 2020. He said that the start-up also offers 60-minute delivery across Chennai and his company is hopeful to further scale up to 30-minute delivery soon.
