Hyderabad: An adulterated paneer and dairy products racket was busted in Ganj Bazar, Secunderabad, on Wednesday, March 18, leading to a seizure of 3,892 kg of products worth Rs 11,11,600. Six people, operating the retail and wholesale outlets, were also arrested during the raid.
The raid was carried out by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team, in coordination with a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Food Safety Officer (FSO) and Mahankali police.
Officials found that the paneer and other dairy items, such as khoa, white cream, ghee and kalakand, were stored under open plastic covers, exposing them to dust, flies, and contaminants. The products also lacked proper labelling, including brand name, manufacturing date, expiry date, and pest control records, indicating serious violations of food safety standards.
Moreover, the products were falsely marketed as high-quality items and sold at Rs 280 per kg to catering services, hotels, and customers, a release from the Hyderabad police stated.
The accused have been identified as Jaipal Singh Rajpurohit, Kolariya Vaibhav, Naresh Kolariya, Prem Anil Vyas, Ram Kishore Kolariya, and Laxmi Narayana Kolariya. They have been handed over to the Mahankali police for further action.
