‘They want to kill me, harm CM Yogi’: BJP’s Raja Singh says he got threat call

"The caller said they intended to harm me and my family before the elections or counting day," Raja said in a video statement.

Hyderabad: Goshamahal MLA and BJP leader T Raja Singh has alleged that he and his family received threatening calls from a 15-digit number on Wednesday, October 25.

In a video statement addressed to the city police, Singh said he received a call at around 1:59 pm. “The caller said they intended to harm me and my family before the elections or counting day. They claimed to have a plan in place to kill me,” he said. H

He said the alleged caller said they would harm Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath when he visits the city to campaign for him in Goshmahal.

He further claimed that the number’s caller ID belonged to an Islamic country. “This person is being constantly briefed about my every movement by a person who is a Hyderabad resident. He knows about my family members, which bullet I ride, when I step out for campaigning etc,” Raja Singh alleged.

“Although I have encountered threatening calls in the past, it is imperative the police address this particular threat, especially given the mention of targeting UP chief minister,” he appealed to the DGP.

Recently, Raja Singh’s suspension was revoked by the saffron party making him eligible to contest the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections scheduled for November 30.

The controversial MLA was suspended after he was arrested in August last year for making blasphemous statements against Prophet Muhammad. He made these videos in response to police allowing a comedian Munawar Farooqui to perform a show in the city in August 2022.
