CEO Vikas Raj emphasized the significance of implementing targeted initiatives to boost voter turnout

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj convened a meeting with district-level Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) representatives from all 31 districts of the State on Wednesday, March 13. Joint CEO Sarfaraz Ahmed guided SVEEP nodal officers and urged them to work seamlessly to reach improved voter turnout.

The CEO highlighted the importance of effective initiatives to increase voter turnout in the next parliamentary elections. CEO Vikas Raj emphasized the significance of implementing targeted initiatives to boost voter turnout and defining specific goals for higher participation in light of the impending parliamentary elections.

The one-day conference of District SVEEP Nodal Officers, held ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections, sought to encourage knowledge sharing and inspire officers to carry out successful SVEEP activities to increase voter involvement.

CEO Vikas Raj stressed the importance of prioritizing the inclusion of marginalized groups such as Persons with Disability (PwD), Third Gender, Senior Citizens (above 85 years), PVTGs, and other tribal groups in SVEEP initiatives, citing the motto “Greater participation for Stronger Democracy.”

Furthermore, he stated that, in accordance with ECI standards, efforts are being made to increase voter participation at specified polling sites. He announced a forthcoming visit by the Election Commission of India’s SVEEP section to assess SVEEP plans for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
