ACB arrests electricity dept worker, seizes over Rs 2 cr cash from kin; raid ongoing

Hyderabad: In a major corruption raid, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, September 16, seized Rs 2.18 crore in Hyderabad from a relative of an employee working with the electricity department.

The ACB registered disproportionate assets against Ambedkar Erugu, a TGSPDCL assistant divisional engineer (ADE) in Ibrahimbagh. He has been arrested and also faces previous corruption charges.

The Rs 2.18 crore cash was recovered at one of his relatives’ homes.

The raids started at 5 am at Ambedkar’s residence and 10 other locations, including his relatives and friends. It is still going on, stated the press release.

During the search, officers recovered movable and immovable properties which Ambedkar received by abusing his government position.

  • One company under the name Amthar Chemicals located in a 10 acres of land
  • Six residential prime open plots in Hyderabad
