Adani Group to invest Rs. 60K crore, Reliance Rs. 40K crore in MP

Indore: Responding to the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, major business houses including Adani Group, Reliance Group, Adita Birla Group and JSW Group pledged investment of several thousand crores of rupees at the inaugural session of the 7th edition of the Global Investors Summit (GIS) organised by the Madhya Pradesh Government, here at Brilliant Convention Centre on Wednesday.

While Adani Group committed investment of Rs. 60,000 crore, Reliance Group and Aditya Birla Group announced plans to invest Rs. 40,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore respectively. JSW Group also pledged Rs 4,500 crore investments in the state in next two years. 

Over 5000 industrialists and 70 big industrial houses are participating in the summit. The theme of summit is “Madhya Pradesh: The Future Ready State”. Besides, 10 partner countries, Panama foreign minister, Mauritius finance minister, Bangladesh commerce minister, Zimbabwe minister for minerals, ambassadors or consulate generals from 33 countries, 431 business delegates from 84 countries are also participating in the summit.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the Summit in virtual mode said that not only every Indian, every organisation of the world, every expert of the world is looking at India’s growing economy as a shining star in the global economy. Our strong macroeconomic fundamentals are capable of leading the world. Today India is the fastest growing economy of the world. In the next four to five years, India will be the third largest economy in the world. On the global stage, not just this decade but the century belongs to India.

Prime Minister Modi said that today India is the centre of attraction for investors from all over the world. The reason for this is their indomitable faith in India. India has powerful democracy, youth power, political stability, fast decision making ability, ease of living, ease of doing business. India is moving on the path of Reform, Transform and Perform. There is an unprecedented pace of development in India. From the year 2014, we are moving towards self-reliance at a fast pace, he claimed.

He said that India has all the necessary facilities for investment, National Single Window System is in place, labour laws have been simplified, various restrictions have been removed, it has modern and multi-modal infrastructure, most competitive logistics market in the world, logistics policy has been implemented, there is optical fibre in every village, there is 5G network, the speed of our national highways has doubled in the last 8 years, the number of operational airports has also doubled, we have a dedicated industrial corridor, there are expressways, logistic parks, our port capacity has also increased.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan speaking on the occasion said: “There is immense enthusiasm for investment in Madhya Pradesh, not only among domestic investors but investors across the world. I feel our efforts will bear fruit. I have to make the state a $ 550 billion economy by 2026 and this summit will be a milestone in this direction. MP wants to run with the speed of Cheetah…. ” 

MP’s growth rate is highest in country: Chouhan

Chouhan in his appeal to the industrialists in the inaugural session asked them to invest in the state which is the fastest growing state of India with adequate land and water, surplus power, skilled manpower, good infrastructure and pro-industry policies. He said that Madhya Pradesh’s growth rate is highest in the country at 19.76 per cent, its contribution to country’s GDP now stands at 4.6 per cent, and its GSDP is 12 lakh crore. 

“We have 2 lakh acres of land bank for industries. The industrialists who have come to attend the GIS can put a finger on the state’s map and we will allocate the land within 24 hours. We have 24×7 power supply. We have adequate water for industries as we have rivers like Narmada which flow throughout the year. Madhya Pradesh is a peaceful state. The law and order in the state is intact. We also have skilled manpower and we are making global skill park in Bhopal where manpower will be trained as per the requirements of the industries. Above all, we have ease of doing business policy. In the recent rankings, MP was adjudged No 1 in good governance,” he said. 

The CM stated that the infrastructure of MP has also improved in last two decades. Indian Diaspora from London told us during the PBD convention that Indore roads are better than that those in London. 

Pointing out that MP is an industry-friendly state; Chouhan stated that he is a CEO of MP who meets industrialists every Monday.  He said the state is rich in mineral resources. “There are diamonds, coal, dolomite, limestone, manganese etc. The state also produces strategic raw materials which are required for making defence and aircraft equipment”, he said. 

Citing achievements made by the state in agriculture sector, Chouhan said that MP is food-grain capital of the country.  We are encouraging contract farming and industrialists can get the farmers to produce whatever crop they want.

“I have special interest in textile and readymade garments industries because it gives maximum jobs. We currently stands at fourth positing in readymade garments industries and working to secure No 1 position. We have an exclusive readymade garments policy”, Chouhan revealed 

He said that Madhya Pradesh is going to be the next destination of IT companies. “The state has everything that IT companies want – cleanliness, greenery, safety, security and peace”, he pointed out. 

Guyana President Irfaan Ali meets Agriculture minister Tomar

Meanwhile, Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali met with the Union Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar in Delhi on Thursday. Ali was in India to attend the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD).

During his India visit, the Guyanese President attended several programmes in Agra, Kanpur, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

President Ali also met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on the sidelines of the PBD, in Indore on January 10. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the possibility of working together in the trade and industry sectors. Chouhan also gifted tribal paintings of Madhya Pradesh to the Guyanese president.

Ali also agreed to enter into agreements as part of which Madhya Pradesh and Guyana would be joint partners in food processing, agriculture and irrigation sectors. They also proposed to work jointly using innovative technology in these areas.

Heart stents unit to come up in Ujjain 

Meanwhile, an Indian company and global leader in making heart stents, SMT, plans to set up a manufacturing unit in Ujjain with an investment of Rs 200 crore. If things go according to plans, production of heart stents will start in the next two and half years.

Dr. Rajiv Chhibbar, vice-president (External Affairs) of SMT, who was here to take part in the GIS, spelt out his plans in an interview.

“We already have a presence in Surat, Mangalore and in Hyderabad; we have Asia’s largest stent manufacturing plant. We plan to set up our first plant in MP in the upcoming Medical Devices Park, in Ujjain, with an investment of Rs 200 cr. 

SMT is a global medical devices company engaged in making advanced medical technological equipment, which is used in 79 countries. Its specialisation is in the field of cardiovascular healthcare.
