Cyberabad police foils bid to assasinate State tourism minister, 8 held

Hyderabad: A conspiracy to assassinate Telangana Excise Minister Srinivas Goud was foiled by the Cyberabad police. It is learned that a Supari gang has struck a deal worth Rs 15 crore to eliminate the cabinet minister.

The accused who planned the murder have been arrested by the police in Petbasheerabad. Police Commissioner Cyberabad Stephen Ravindra on Wednesday said ‘The names V Yadaiah,Ch Nagraj and B Vishwanath came out during the interrogation of the accused persons.

The three were arrested on February 26 and they are identified as Nagraj ,Raghu aka Raghavendra Raju and others who had conspired the plot..

The suspects, hailing from Mahabunagar, had also hired a contract killer to execute their plan to kill the minister and his brother V Srikanth Goud.

The Commissioner informed that Munnur Ravi and Madhusdhan Raju were in Delhi. Their location was traced and it was found to be at the residence of former BJP MP Jitender Reddy. They were arrested in Delhi and brought to Hyderabad.

Stephen Ravindra said that Jitender Reddy’s driver and his PA Raghavendra Raju had given Shelter to the assailants. The pistol was seized from the suspects and during the sustained interrogation of Raghavendra Raj, it was revealed that the gang conspired to kill the state tourism Minister Srinivas Goud.

The prime suspect Raghavendra Raju first came in contact with Mohammed Farooq Ahmed of Gagan pahad Shamshabad and Ghulam Hyder of Mahboob Nagar. He offered to pay Rs 15 crore if the minister was killed. Raghavendra Raj and Madhusdhan Raju are the main perpetrators and financiers in the conspiracy.

“The accused will be taken into police custody and further investigation is underway” said CP Stephen Ravindra.
