Farida Jalal Praises Shah Rukh Khan

A video of Farida Jalal sharing her fondest memories of working with Shah Rukh Khan is now surfacing on Instagram. In an interview on Rajshri Unplugged, she opened up about her experiences while filming blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Among the many narratives, one incident stands out: proof of SRK’s impeccable gentlemanliness.

While filming Duplicate in Mauritius, Farida Jalal and her mother faced an unexpected encounter at the airport. They found themselves struggling with their luggage when Shah Rukh Khan approached them. To their surprise and delight, King Khan effortlessly took their trolley and began assisting them with their bags, displaying an unexpected and heartwarming gesture of kindness.

Farida said, “Kaun yaqeen karega, woh aaye the aur hamara trolley dhakelrahe the. Hamaare haat se lekar. Shah Rukh Khan. Toh yeh ek bahaut bada badappan hai us ladke mein. Meri bahaut duaayein, pyaar hai unke saath hamesha. Bahaut achi yaadein hai unki.”

Rejecting Kal Ho Naa Ho

Farida Jalal also revealed why she opted out of the film Kal Ho Naa Ho, which featured Shah Rukh Khan. She was offered the role of Jaya Bachchan’s mother-in-law, but she declined. Having recently played roles alongside Jaya Bachchan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Farida felt that the audience wouldn’t accept her in a similar role.

Farida Jalal’s performances have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. She has received prestigious awards, including the Filmfare Award and the Bengal Film Journalists Award.
