Mumbai: Live-in partner murders woman; chops, boils body parts

The man bought a tree cutter, chopped her body into pieces, boiled them in a pressure cooker and attempted to dispose of them in plastic bags.

Mumbai: Foul smell emanating from a flat in Mumbai’s Mira Road led to the discovery of a horrendous murder.

A 56-year-old man was detained on Wednesday evening for allegedly murdering his live-in partner and dismembering her body, the police officials said.

The suspect, identified as Manoj Sahani, had been staying with Saraswati Vaidya in the rental flat in the Akashganga building in the Mira Road area over the past three years.

On Wednesday, Nayanagar police station received a call from residents of the building, complaining about a foul odour emanating from the couple’s flat.

“After the police broke into the house they found chopped pieces of a woman’s body in utensils and buckets,” said Mumbai DCP Jayant Bajbale.

According to media reports, the man bought a tree cutter and chopped her body into pieces, boiled them in a pressure cooker and attempted to dispose of them in plastic bags.

The police have stated that 12-13 pieces of her body were discovered in the apartment. Videos of the police carrying away the body parts in cloth pieces, utensils and plastic bags surfaced on social media.
