Colonel Syed Iftikhar Ali, Secretary of Help Hyderabad, and a distinguished veteran of the Indian Army has passed away. Colonel Ali, a revered hero of both the 1971 India-Pakistan War and the Kargil War, was commissioned into the Garhwal Rifles on 12th January 1969. His exemplary service in various critical assignments across the country is a testament to his unwavering dedication and commitment to the nation.
Colonel Ali’s military career was marked by numerous significant achievements. His pivotal role in several strategic operations during the 1971 War earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors alike. His involvement in the Kargil War further underscored his steadfast dedication to the defence of our country.
Upon his retirement from military service, Colonel Ali devoted himself to social service, where his contributions were equally remarkable. His relentless efforts in the protection of Waqf properties, along with his leadership as the Secretary of Help Hyderabad, were instrumental in launching and driving numerous initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged and safeguarding religious endowments. His work garnered widespread recognition and profound respect within the community.
Colonel Syed Iftikhar Ali passed away at 10 a.m. on Thursday, 22nd August, at Sunshine KIMS Hospital in Begumpet. He was laid to rest at the Punjagutta cemetery. The officers and jawans of the 12 Garhwal Rifles paid their respects with a floral tribute, honouring a man whose life epitomised the spirit of service, both in uniform and in civil life.
