
New Delhi: Female railway employees can lodge workplace-related sexual harassment complaints through the HRMS (Human Resource Management System) application from March 8, International Women’s Day.
A Railway Ministry’s circular, dated March 5, read: “As per the existing guidelines of the Government of India, committees have to be constituted at various levels to address complaints of sexual harassment faced by female employees.”
The ‘Sexual Harassment Incident Notification for Empowerment (SHINE) of Female Employees Module’ seeks to make reporting of sexual harassment incidents more confidential and addressed expeditiously, it said.
“This feature is accessible to all female employees, and they can record their complaint directly and it will be received by the concerned Committee nominated to deal with such complaints online,” the circular addressed to general managers of all railway zones,” it said.
The portal has a feature that allows lodging complaints on behalf of outside visitors, contractual employees/workers or students and on behalf of women employees, it said.
The ministry said employees can access the SHINE module through Employees Self Service.
“This module will be launched on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day,” the circular said.
“The field units may nominate the IC (Internal Complaint) Committee and officials dealing with sexual harassment cases. Detailed guidelines regarding the work flow of the module will be available in the HRMS Portal,” the circular added.
