Telangana govt releases list of general, optional holidays for 2024

Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Muharram, and Milad-un-Nabi may change

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Tuesday released a list of general and optional holidays for the year 2024.

In the notification issued by the general administration department, it is mentioned that all offices under the state government shall remain closed on all Sundays and second Saturdays in all the months during the year 2024 except the second Saturday in February 2024 which will be a working day in lieu of public holiday declared on January 1, 2024.

Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha holidays in Telangana

The holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Muharram, and Milad-un-Nabi in Telangana may change as they depend on the sighting of the moon.

As of now, the government has declared April 11 and June 17 as the holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha respectively.

As per the government notification, the holiday for Milad-un-Nabi is on September 16, 2024.

In 2024, there will be 27 general holidays and 25 optional holidays for government offices.

  15. July 17: Shahadat Imam Hussain 10th Moharam
  16. July 29: Bonalu
  17. August 15: Independence Day

  20. September 16: Milad un Nabi
  21. October 2: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi/Bathukamma starting day
  22. October 12: Vijaya Dasami
  23. October 13: Following day of Vijaya Dasami
  24. October 31: Deepavali
  25. November 11: Kartika Purnima/Guru Nanak’s birthday
  26. December 25: Christmas
  27. December 26: Boxing day
