A London subway tube driver, chanted “Free, free Palestine” over the train’s speaker system on Saturday, October 21. The incident is being investigated by British Transport Police (BTP).
A 13-second video clip of the incident was posted on X. The video shows the driver chanting pro-Palestine slogans over the announcement system on the Central Line, while hundreds of passengers packed in a train were heading towards a massive demonstration in solidarity with Palestine.
The driver says “free, free” to which the passengers responded “Palestine”.
The driver added, “Hope you all have a blessed day today and look after yourselves. And keep all those people in your prayers.”

The video sparked a heated online debate, with many praising the driver as an ‘amazing’ and ‘legend’, while others criticized and called for him to be fired.
BTP Assistant Chief Constable Sean O’Callaghan said the force was “aware of footage circulating on social media which suggests chants are led by the driver of a train in London earlier”.
“BTP are working with Transport for London and investigating the matter.”
Security minister Tom Tugendhat wrote on X, “London’s tube’s are for everyone. Many will find this intimidating.”
He added, “The mayor has a duty to help all Londoners feel safe”.
