Six injured in gas wave blast at GAR building in Kokapet

The gas wave blast took place inside a new restaurant that was being setup on the ground floor, while gas connection was being given.

Hyderabad: Six persons sustained gas wave burn burn injuries, while the gas connections were being setup inside a new restaurant on the ground floor of GAR Building in Kokapet on Saturday evening, March 15.

They have been shifted to the Continental Hospitals for treatment, and one of them sustained more than 50% burn injuries.

According to Narsingi ACP Ramana, a hotel was being setup in a built-up area of 2,000 sq ft on the ground floor of the building, when there was a sudden leak of gas from the gas composer, injuring those close to it within seconds.

He told media that it was not a fire accident, but a gas connection wave blast.

He said that the fire department officials have been trying to ascertain the cause of the sudden leakage of gas, based on which the police could take further action.

The ACP said that one person who sustained 50% injuries would recover after treatment.
