Hyderabad receives heavy rainfall, more in coming hours

IMD Hyderabad had earlier issued a yellow alert for the city.

Hyderabad: Moderate rains are expected to continue in Hyderabad for the next hour. The traffic police has issued advisories in light of the incessant rainfall that has been lashing the city since Thursday afternoon.

A tree has uprooted on the Masab Tank road causing slow movement of traffic. Commuters have been advised to take alternate routes as authorities clear the obstruction.

Slow traffic has also been reported at the IKEA under bridge on both sides. Police are working to clear up the congestion. Meanwhile, commuters are advised to take alternate routes and leave extra travel time till things ease up.

Heavy rain in Hyderabad

Areas including Hayathnagar, Vanasthalipuram, Kuntloor, LB Nagar, Nagole, Boduppal, Nacharam, Mallapur, Kapra, Moula Ali, ECIL, Nagaram will receive 100 mm of rainfall, according to local weather enthusiast T Balaji.

Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad had issued a yellow alert for the city along with a heavy rain alert for the next five days.

They have also forecasted moderate to heavy rain or thunder showers with gusty winds for Hyderabad on September 11 and 12.

Several Telangana districts to receive heavy rainfall

Thunderstorms are expected to continue in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Jangaon and parts of Rangareddy and Siddipet, whereas areas of Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Sircilla, Suryapet, Mahabubabad and Khammam are expected to be hit with scattered thunderstorms in the coming hours.

Residents are requested to plan their travel according and follow advisories issued by authorities.
