Saudi ambassador to Iran presents credentials to President Raisi

In September, Al-Anazi arrived in Tehran to begin his diplomatic duties.

Tehran: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Iran Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anazi has presented his credentials to President Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday, October 24, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

During the meeting, ambassador Al-Anazi extended greetings of King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who also serves as Prime Minister, to President Raisi.

He also expressed their wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the Iranian people.

President Raisi welcomed and extended his best wishes to Ambassador Al-Anazi for success in his mission.

Al-Anazi is a Saudi diplomat who held the position of the Kingdom’s ambassador to Oman from 2021 to 2023 and was previously a member of the Kingdom’s permanent delegation to the United Nations.

Al-Anazi won the Prince Turki Al-Faisal Award for “Ideal Employee” for Saudi diplomats in 2006. In September, he arrived in Tehran to begin his diplomatic duties.

The exchange of ambassadors comes after the two countries reached an agreement in March with Chinese mediation to restore diplomatic relations.

In recent months, the two parties exchanged visits at the level of foreign ministers as part of steps to restore relations.

Riyadh and Tehran cut ties in 2016 after Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran were attacked during protests against Riyadh’s execution of Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.
