Telangana model seems right for farmers’ welfare: Rakesh Tikait

New Delhi: Bharatiya Kisan Union official spokesperson Rakesh Tikait opined that the Telangana model seems right for the welfare of farmers in the country.

Tikait said this after he participated in a lunch meeting hosted by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in which BJP MP Subramanian Swamy along with the TRS team comprising of MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the state planning board vice president B Vinod and TRS MP J Santhosh Kumar were also present.

“We have been demanding the policy of giving subsidy to farmers per acre since the last ten years and Telangana is the first state to give Rs 10,000 per acre. This policy should be implemented across the country. There (Telangana), twenty-four-hour free electricity is being given to farmers. This policy is in many states. But, in Uttar Pradesh, electricity is very expensive. When the same crop is being produced in Telangana, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, everybody should get free power. So, the Telangana model seems right,” he said.

The meeting comes a few days after KCR’s meeting with Election strategist Prashant Kishore at the CM”s farmhouse.

Telangana is heading for assembly polls in the month of December next year and the incumbent TRS wishes for a consecutive third term in power.

Over time, KCR has been meeting various non-BJP leaders and from time to time has said that the country is in need of a change. He met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Maharastra CM Uddhav Thackeray, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and RJD Chief Tejaswi Yadav in the recent past and has been active in holding talks leading to rumours on various possible alliances.
