
Hyderabad: Tension gripped Suraram village in Chinashankarampet mandal of Medak district after two persons belonging to rival groups were killed in a series of retaliatory attacks triggered by a long-standing feud.
According to local sources, a man identified as Sridhar was allegedly waylaid and murdered on Monday. June 22, while he was travelling to a neighbouring village on personal work. His rival Prabhakar and another associate reportedly carried out the attack.
Prabhakar married Sridhar’s younger sister and the latter was against the relationship which led to tensions between both of them.
The killing sparked outrage among Sridhar’s family members and supporters. Late on Monday night, a group of relatives allegedly attacked Prabhakar’s residence in Suraram village in an apparent act of revenge. While Prabhakar was away, the attackers allegedly targeted his father, Yadagiri, who was killed in the assault.
Police have deployed a large force in the village and are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents. Senior officers are supervising security arrangements, while investigations into both murders are underway.
