Telangana worker in Dubai seeks return after stroke, distress

Family approaches Nirmal District Collector Bhavesh Mishra and NRI panel member Swadesh Parikipandla after employer allegedly fails to act.

Hyderabad: The family of a Telangana worker employed in Dubai has sought official intervention to bring him back to India after he reportedly suffered a stroke and developed severe mental distress.

On Monday, June 22, the family approached Nirmal District Collector Bhavesh Mishra through the Prajavani grievance redressal programme. They also met Swadesh Parikipandla, a state member of the NRI Advisory Committee, seeking assistance in facilitating the worker’s return from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The worker, identified as Gadchanda Sayanna, is a resident of Talveda village in Nirmal district. He travelled to Dubai around 18 months ago and has been working as a labourer with Engineering Construction and Reconstruction LLC while residing at a workers’ accommodation camp in Sonapur.

According to his family, Sayanna suffered a paralytic stroke and has since been experiencing anxiety and mental distress. They said his co-workers informed them about his deteriorating health condition.

Following the development, his wife, Kamala, and son, Ajay, requested the company and recruitment agency to arrange his return to India for treatment and family support. However, they alleged that both parties failed to respond to repeated appeals.

After receiving the family’s representation, Parikipandla said he had raised the matter with the Office of the Protector of Emigrants in New Delhi and the State General Administration Department (GAD) through email. He assured the family that efforts were underway to facilitate Sayanna’s repatriation from the UAE at the earliest.
