Hyderabad: A Hyderabad restaurant owner was booked by the city police after a free haleem offer led to chaos and a stampede-like situation on Tuesday, March 12.
The management of the restaurant at Chaderghat, Hyderabad, which was inaugurated on Tuesday, March 12, the first day of Ramzan, decided to distribute free haleem among the public, only between 7-8 pm. Some people circulated the messages on social media and it went viral.
Hundreds of people turned up to enjoy the freebie, leading to a stampede-like situation. Police personnel, who were stationed near the restaurant resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
Following the chaos, the owner of the Hyderabad restaurant was booked for causing nuisance and traffic congestion. The police stated that the free haleem offer on the first day of Ramzan was made without any preparedness to handle the crowd.
