One Indian killed, nine injured in Oman road accident

The incident prompted an emergency medical evacuation by the Royal Oman Police Air Wing.

Muscat: One Indian national was killed and nine others were injured after a vehicle veered off a road in Oman on Saturday, August 22.

In a post on X, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said the accident occurred on Sultan Said bin Taimur Road in the Wilayat of Haima. The road connects Oman’s northern regions with the southern governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar.

Two of the injured were airlifted by the ROP Air Wing from Haima to Nizwa Hospital for further treatment. The remaining injured were transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The police did not disclose the cause of the accident or provide further details about the circumstances leading to the vehicle veering off the road.

The incident comes two days after the ROP Air Wing conducted another medical evacuation following a separate accident on the same road. In that incident, one Omani citizen was flown from Haima Hospital to Nizwa Hospital, while five others were transported by ambulance.
