Hyderabad: Invesco Ltd. (NYSE: IVZ) hosted a Hack2Hire - 24hr hackathon event here in the city at its office in Gachibowli in Hyderabad Held on this weekend, the Hackathon was aimed at spotting technology talent and to hire them from Tier 1 & 2 engineering colleges across India. Students from BITS Hyderabad, University of Hyderabad, JNTU Hyderabad, GNITS, CBIT, Chitakara University and Kalinga University. \n\n\n\nOut of the response 20 students were short listed and ten were given away jobs. The winning team from G Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science (G-NITS) was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. Invesco shortlisted 20 candidates and released 10 job offers at the event and evaluating others in coming weeks. This initiative is part of global Invesco Technology Associates Program (iTAP), a talent program aimed at recruiting small cohorts of highly skilled technology graduates and build strategic partnerships with top colleges and universities to create a talent pipeline.\n\n\n\n\u201cInvesting in our people and evolving our culture, creates a competitive advantage and is essential to Technology\u2019s future. Through this Hack2Hire initiative, infusing our organization with more ideas, increased collaboration, opportunities for learning, and talent mobility\u201d said Donie Lochan, MD, Chief Technology Officer. \n\n\n\nThe journey started with more than 600 engineering students from different colleges pan-India attempted the online assessment test in September\u20192019. 52 students were shortlisted and participated in the 24hr. hackathon event conducted at Invesco\u2019s Hyderabad office. An Investment Services case study was given to Hack teams to develop a Technology solution on financial planning. It was a great experience for students to interact with Technology Subject Matter Experts and Leaders, a sneak peek opportunity to experience Invesco\u2019s culture. \n\n\n\nThis event solidifies Invesco\u2019s Innovation program in partnering with academic ecosystem. Invesco has a history of doing hackathons to encourage the participants to challenge, innovate and build technology solutions in an agile way. \u201cHack2Hire enabled us to hire best in class talent from reputed educational institutions. \n\n\n\nHackathon helped us have a deeper preview of the talent in technical and cultural fit.
